IF YOU PUT ANY PERSON BETWEEN YOURSELF AND JESUS CHRIST, YOU ARE SETTING YOURSELF UP TO BE DECEIVED

Whether it's a religious figure; a politician (I can't even type those words without laughing); businessman; celebrity; musician; athlete, or anyone else, it's easy to fall into the trap of worshipping at the alters of charisma, intelligence and worldly success.

That isn't to say there's anything wrong with admiring a person's positive individual attributes. I'm talking instead about elevating the entire person to an obsessive point, which borders on worship. It's very dangerous to hold anyone in such high esteem, because that person can then harness this false perception and weaponize it against you.

This influence is the exact reason companies pay celebrities millions of dollars to endorse products. People admire and idolize them to the point they are almost viewed as being beyond human. This emotional impulsivity can easily cloud one's judgement and override logic and common sense.

Of course, the public images of celebrities are nothing more than carefully constructed mirages, more attributable to agents and public relations specialists, than representative of the actual person. If you could see behind the stunning good looks, million dollar smiles, and material excesses, that fact would be very obvious.

From a distance, it's easy to temporarily convince people otherwise, but if examined under a close enough light, you will see serious character flaws appear in any mortal person. The person may not even be trying to intentionally deceive you; they may have the best of intentions, but it doesn't matter. Sooner or later, they will let you down. Jesus Christ will never do that, and that's why it's imperative to keep our eyes on Him, rather than some synthetic and flawed worldly substitute.

1Ti 2:5  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus

There is absolutely no need to ever allow any person to manipulate his or her way into a mediatorship between yourself and Jesus Christ. All of us may approach Christ directly, who will in-turn intervene on our behalf to the Father.

Would anyone have a long section of strong chain with 1/2" thick links, and then purposely insert a 1/16" link, right in the center of it? Of course not, because despite the structural integrity of the chain being 90% the same, that altered 10% is going to fail, every single time. So, it is with putting another human between yourself and Jesus Christ. By doing so, there is absolutely nothing to gain and everything to lose.
