GOD DOESN'T NEED US; WE NEED HIM
[Isa 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isa 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. Isa 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.]
In modern Christianity, emphasis is often placed on the importance of human free will. The relatable god it describes more resembles some lonely old man, floating around on a cloud, keeping his fingers crossed that if he petitions us enough, maybe....just maybe, we'll choose him. In contrast, we humans are the prized free agents; Satan is waving a contract on our one side, and this god is on the other - both competing to win our affections. I don't know who this god is, but I can say for certain that it most definitely isn't the God of the bible!
The God of the bible is omniscient, omnipotent, and His will is always accomplished. While you won't find any bible verses with God prioritizing human will above His own, you'll find plenty emphasizing the fulfillment of God's own will. Consider the following:
[Isa 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Isa 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Isa 46:11 Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it. (emphasis is mine.)].
[Isa 55:10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. (emphasis is mine.)].
[Dan 4:35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?]
Does this sound like a God who needs anything, particularly from mortal humans He created? His power is so vast and beyond comprehension. Even in our wildest imaginations, we are destined to drastically understimate it, because we have no frame of reference. By comparison, even the greatest human innovations are so very miniscule, and besides. humans create nothing. We merely uncover what the Good Lord has already created for us to discover.
So in the end, instead of trying to pull God down and artificially elevate ourselves to His level, we should be doing the exact opposite: elevating Him and humbling ourselves. The God who created all things doesn't share His glory with anyone. We are merely along for the ride as fortunate and extremely undeserving benefactors, through Jesus Christ, of His mercy and grace. This certainly isn't to say that human free will isn't a thing, just that it isn't the thing. In the end, God's will is what has always and will always prevail:
[Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (emphasis is mine.)].
[Pro 19:21 There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand. (emphasis is mine.)].
[Deu 32:39 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand. (emphasis is mine.)].
